Dar Ben Gacem -Pasha-

Dar Ben Gacem -Pasha- was transferred from the Anoun family to the Ben-Gacem family in 2006. According to national archives, Anoun family purchased the Dar in the 17th century; and most buildings on Pasha Street, were constructed around the 15th century, nevertheless the oldest document about the Dar was found in the 17th century. The Anouns were master perfumers, and had many shows at Souk El Attarine (Souk of perfumers). The same family lived in the Dar for 3 centuries.

The Dar witnessed several transformations over its 4 centuries of existence. Today it is a boutique hotel with 7 rooms. The restoration process ensured the preservation of all architectural elements, including poles and stones, from destroyed Carthage and rooms decorated with gypsum and stone carvings, hand painted tiles and wood painted ceilings.
